After being a Tattly-wearer for over a year, I used to always joke with people that “I had commitment problems” every time I would get asked if my current Tattly was real.
Since getting hooked on Tattly designs, I’ve almost always worn them on my inner left wrist and have kept a (secret) board on Pinterest of designs or ideas that I would actually get permanently. It wasn’t until this past weekend that I finally decided it was time to make a call. Because, heck, I don’t have commitment problems.
Ever since the time I started actually thinking about getting inked for the first time, I always thought I’d end up with something Green Day related, between the Kerplunk happy flower or their Awesome As F*** bunny mascot. In the end, it came down to this.
I love pixels. Although I drifted away from gaming for a bit, I’ve always loved pushing pixels, whether it was just the general concept of being a graphic designer or actually literally pushing pixels around in Illustrator for an 8bit homage. And, of course, I still miss my little friend, Pixel, who passed earlier this year and is now buried in pink satin underground in my backyard.
I anticipated pain, but honestly, the feeling during the process was just aggravating. Nowhere near the pain I felt when I had my wisdom teeth removed last year (I never want to feel that way again).
I still love Tattlys and will continue to wear them, but this is something I know I can live with for the rest of my life. I can’t deny it. I’m a nerd, I’m a geek, I’m a pixel lover.
