Happy New Year!

So 2016 ended, and here we are.

My 2017 to-do list includes a lot of unfinished projects from last year, including finishing up that mini coloring book I’m about halfway done with, illustrating the rest of the Donut Haikus I was on fire with at some point in the second half of last year, making more donut earrings, and revisiting my plush donut keychains.

There is definitely a lot of other things on that list, but those are the handful I really want to focus on right now as my side projects.

To give myself a boost, I’ve done a little spring (winter?) cleaning across my social platforms and did a little blog theme refresh just because I was getting sick of seeing my blog in the same format it had been in for I don’t know how long now. I wanted things to be a bit more clean as well as change the tone a little bit – make it slightly more personal, focusing less on pumping out themed business-y blogs every. single. day. I’ll still do the Work-In-Progress Wednesdays, Throwback Thursdays, and Flavor Fridays, but as they come and not so forced.

A couple of my goals are to improve (aesthetics and skills in both design and art) as well as unplug a little bit. I recently bought an Instax Mini 8 after at least a year of telling myself no, but after using it during the holidays, it really is fun. A novelty for sure, but I noticed myself using my phone much less (no immediate upload and sharing) but rather being more social in person with the physical prints. I’m not going to lie, the quality is shitty, especially when you compare it to all the tech we’ve got, but it’s not like I’ll be using it for product photography and I think I want to focus on real connections this year. The flash is embarrassing sometimes, though, since you can’t turn it off on that model.

Cheers to the new year and hope it treats everyone well!
